Most newborns eat every 2 to 3 hours, or 8 to 12 times every 24 hours. Babies may only take half an ounce per feed for the first day or two of life, but after that will usually drink 1 to 2 ounces per feed. This amount increases to 2 to 3 ounces at 2 weeks of age.
And your baby probably won’t be hungry in the first few days of his life, and they can only take in half an ounce per feed. The amount will soon increase to 1 to 2 ounces. By the second week of their lives, babies will eat about 2 to 3 ounces in one session. They will continue to drink breast milk in larger amounts as they grow older.
